Summer mode: activated.
But before you head off into the sun (or just dream about it from your desk), let’s take a leaf out of your holiday packing guide…
Because just like your suitcase, your messages don’t need everything. When audiences are already overwhelmed, the key is to travel light and make every word count.
CREATIVE WORKOUT:
Here’s how to cut the comms clutter and get straight to the point…
Step 1: Pick your overpacked message
Grab a real-life example. A stuffed-to-the-zip email, bloated update, or an info-heavy post. The kind that’s trying to say too much.
Step 2: Find your travel essentials
What’s the one thing your audience really needs to know or do? Strip it back to a single, crystal-clear sentence. The message equivalent of sunscreen. Non-negotiable.
Step 3: Shrink it for carry-on
Now turn that sentence into a headline, hook, or tagline. Short, sharp, sun-drenched. Think beach bar menu, not instruction manual.
EXAMPLE:
Before: ‘It’s important to submit your feedback by Friday because your insights help us improve our workflow.’
After: ‘Your feedback fuels our future. Submit by Friday!’
Now it’s your turn.
