Every now and then, an opportunity for a project crosses our desk that we feel especially touched to be a part of.
Having known ZoieLogic Dance Theatre and its namesake, Zoie Golding, MBE, for some time, we were immediately intrigued when we heard about a bold, innovative idea tentatively called “800 Men.”
Here’s how the team contributed to bringing this idea and its fantastic cause to life.
The story behind the project
ZoieLogic Dance Theatre is a staple in Southampton’s thriving arts community. Their mission is simple: to connect people through the power of dance.
Behind countless local and national events and projects showcasing dance to the wider community, they had a big idea that was sure to draw attention, and they sought our support as long-time collaborators.
The project was initially conceived as a mass dance event across Southampton’s Itchen Bridge, with hundreds of men moving and dancing in unison.
This mass movement intends to smash society’s stigma around men dancing and build the confidence of hundreds of men who want to feel empowered through dance.
Playing our part
With a working title and concept in place, we stepped back to explore the event’s potential and how best to communicate its purpose, action, and excitement.
Mental health, particularly men’s mental health, is important to us, as we have witnessed the life-shattering impact that poor mental health can have on individuals and families.
We supported ZLDT and its team in finalising the name. The Big Movement was born. We’ve also created a compelling visual identity that will be used to present and promote the event over the coming years, raising support and sponsorship and attracting participants.
With the visual identity established, we developed a pitch deck for use in funding efforts.
To help bring the story to life, we penned a poem to be featured in the event’s launch video. In just a few verses, the poem captures the significance of this event—not only for men who seek empowerment but also for those who have faced the challenge of poor mental health.

What’s to come
We continue to support the project from a strategic communications and marketing perspective, working to ensure it reaches the widest audience possible and the people who need it most.
The project has evolved from a single mass dance moment into a three-year programme of activations and interventions with a national reach.
We’re proud to be part of something that aims to positively impact people’s lives and provide a creative way for the city to connect.
