CREATIVE WORKOUT:
Comms pros are often asked to ‘work their magic’ 🪄✨.
But before you pull your rabbit out of a hat, let’s make time for your creative thinking. The messages, meetings, and mayhem can wait for a moment.
Today’s nudge is all about carving out time for creative thinking before the to-do list takes over.
Here’s the magic formula:
Step 1. Claim 15 minutes
First thing. Before emails, before meetings. Just you and your brain. No pressure. Just space to think, wander, and play with ideas. Block out 15 uninterrupted minutes each morning.
Step 2. Choose a real challenge
Pick something that’s on your plate – a project or challenge. Use a mind map, sketch, scribble, or whatever helps you explore it from fresh angles. Need a spark? Try:
How would a child or comedian tackle this?
What if time/money weren’t an issue?
What’s the opposite of the obvious?
Step 3. Let it breathe
Don’t judge your ideas. Just get them out. Come back later to shape them. You’re planting seeds in your mind that will grow throughout the day and beyond. You might be surprised by what shows up.
Small window. Big impact.
Creativity often doesn’t need hours, just a little protected space and a nudge to start. Go make magic your own magic. Reclaim your time.
